We congratulate the playwrights!
We're excited to announce the release of the final plays in the FSWW 2023-'24 New Play Reading Series that are also headed to the International Black Theatre Festival!
Same Difference by Don Mays
Two young men in the early 1990s, believe themselves to be such polar-opposites that they cannot see that they have more in common than they can ever imagine.
In the 1980s & 90s, AIDS was ravishing the gay community while at the same time drug and gang violence was killing off young men in the Black community.
Overt racism and homophobia created a divide that made these two groups of men believe they had nothing in common. But the two men are forced to deal with each other.
C.P.R. A Love Tragedy? by Rhonda Passion Hansome
Renee and Robert share a workplace flirtation. Despite her Mother's spiritual practice (that may call powers into play) and her best friend Gail's opposition to Robert's advances, a romance blossoms.
But can this improbable odd couple, an American descendant of slavery and an Italian-American legacy police officer, survive the scandal Renee's administrative work reveals AND the racial turmoil unleashed when a brutal sexual assault rocks the Brooklyn police precinct where they work?
